Naked Mole Rats don’t get cancer.

Where do Naked Mole Rats get their Vitamin D?

For a fascinating glimpse of the very reclusive naked mole rat, WNPR reported on new research into this hidden creature, who spends its entire life underground.  Check out the video here.  It wasn’t uploaded as I just heard the report on the radio, but it should be shortly.

An interesting tidbit…they live to be approximately 32 (human) years old…striking in comparison to a normal rat, who only lives to be three.  There must be something more than meets the eye to that subterranean existence.  Researchers at the University of Rochester are studying the creature for links as to why they don’t get cancer…something about goo (I’ll leave you with that so you check it out)!
